We are aware that what the local shops can provide, both in terms of goods and service, is changing by the day. As probably many are aware, Lindsays Butchers have closed their doors temporarily in the interests of their staff, families and customers.
The latest position is as follows, but please note that the support group volunteers collection/delivery side of things is for the vulnerable person/households only. We hope this information is useful to all of you but if you are fit and able then please arrange ordering/collection yourselves:
The Support Group is now providing a once a week collection service. Orders need to be telephoned through direct by 10.00am on a Thursday and at the same time, you will need to tell Harrisons that it is for the Eaglesfield Support Group Collection. You will also need to arrange payment over the phone. The orders will be collected by one of the Group’s Volunteers and delivered to your door around 9.00am to 10.00am Friday morning.
Similar arrangements as for Tony Harrison. Orders need to be telephoned through direct by 5.00pm Tuesday so they can order in fresh – indicate it is for the Eaglesfield Support Group Collection. You will need to arrange payment beforehand, over the phone. The orders will be collected by one of the Group’s Volunteers and delivered to your door around 9.00am to 10.00am Friday morning, along with any meat orders.
Orders can be telephoned into them direct and they will deliver to your door. Because of demand, they are now looking to focus this for Eaglesfield on a Friday delivery day.
Caterite have organised a Click & Collect system which seems to be working very well. You need to register as a customer online. Once your account is approved, you receive a password to gain entry to the shopping site. Just take care when clicking…..some of the products are only available in catering size packs! There is a minimum spend of £50.00 – you can’t check out until the £50.00 spend level is reached. Once you have clicked through and confirmed your order, Caterite will agree a collection day & time. Please discuss collection arrangements with your Volunteer contact.
At the moment, they can’t offer us a telephone order system and their tills are programmed to only allow two or three of certain items. So, any form of ‘group’ shopping would not be possible.
We are continuing to look at this and will advise if a better system can be arranged. I believe many people are already being supported on a one to one basis in respect of Sainsburys / Aldi / Lidl shopping – please continue to liaise with your Volunteer contact.
Online Ordering – Sainsburys are advising that the current lack of delivery slots is being resolved by re-directing resources and staff. It may become a viable option – we will update on this as the situation improves.
We hope the above helps but if you have any difficulty whatsoever getting what you want, or experience difficulties making any necessary payments, call your Volunteer contact or one of the following:
